Visionary Drugs

A most popular topic and common to all, drugs!!But not any kind of drugs, hallucinogenic drugs that change your mental state and take you into a spiritual realm..also called psychotomimetic i.e (mimicking psychosis),mind-expanding or psychedelic drug,This is morally seen as wrong because taking drugs is seen as a lifestyle whereby you are potentially destroying your self !!

Albert Hoffmann (1906-2008) ,the Swizz Chemist who discovered the hallucinogenic drug,LSD he first produced LSD in 1938 while researching the medicinal uses of crop fungus,he accidentally ingested some of the drug and states later " Everything I saw was distorted as in a warped mirror" .He argued for decades that LSD could help treat mental illness but it wasnt until the 1960's where it became a popular street drug.......
Embraced by the "Hippie" movement,LSD was seen as a path to self discovery and Enlightenment,Scientists hailed it as a wonder drug with a potential to treat psychiatric disorders but it came to be blamed for corrupting a generation !! the drug was popularised by Timothy Leary who suggested that people "Tune on,Tune in,Drop out!" Rock stars such as the Beatles and the counter-culture of the 1960's picked up LSD as a wonder drug but horror stories began to emerge of users suffering from permanent psychological damage, and suicide...

The most commonly used hallucinogenic drug is cannabis (Marajuana),others include LSD,Mescaline,Mushrooms and Belladonna, the debate and issues raised in class discussion was should these drugs be legal? Will this hippie movement of the 60's ever change?I personally think that it will never change because it up to that individual to stop taking the drugs, and as long as theres users of the drugs there will be an industry supporting them by creating and disributing these harmful drugs to people in society, drug control is certainly a method that will not work, the criminalization of drugs creates a underworld and it causes social unrest, and leads people into alternative minds of state.
a link below on the debate on Marajuana,Is it a Healing herb ? or Dangerous drug?
I also commented on another students blog on alcohol,Perpetual passion, the link to page is:
