Bad Cinema..

We viewed this 1995 film "Kids" during lecture time..we was given an oration before watching,we was cautioned prior to watching this film that it is deplorable and "raw"...personally when I observed this film I found it to be very shocking, because this film includes much explicit sexual dialogue and depicts scenes of date rape, physical violence, drug dealing, theft etc...

Seeing as the film follows the "Kids" over a 24 hour period, undertaken in such short amount of time, presented with the things that happen,it is now very comprehensible why the audience including myself find this film to be very outrageous.... with an outlook on this film now I need to ask the question who did the creators intend to target the film at ?This was one of the issues raised in class discussion...Originally I thought it was aimed at teengers themselves, but as I scrutinized this film my view became somewhat different.....I now believe that this film is intended at parents of teenagers,to show them the real reality of youth urban life, after the viweing of film class discussion was undertaken and it recieved mixed reviews.

Film critic Janet Maslin of the New York Times called the film " a wake -up call to the modern world". About the nature of present day youth in urban life,Meanwhile other critics have labelled it exploitative in the lascivious sense,as borderline child pornography....I consider this film to be an awakening for parents of youths.
